Hello Oz and thanks for the rugger world cup - don't worry, it looks like we'll be giving it back in 3 years time. Anyhows, me great grandads brother ended up in Oz and I was wandering if he had any family? His name was John (known as Jack) Driscoll and he may have been born in Boston (USA) a few years either side of 1890. His father (Jeremiah) had emigrated from Ireland to the States where he met & married Katie (Cassie) McLoughlin from Donegal. The family returned to Ireland in 1897 to a farm at Lahana, which is to the east of Drimoleague. The family then bought another farm at Madore Caheragh near Skibbereen. My great grandfather (Timothy James Driscoll) moved to England (presumably to find work because he certainly didn't like the English) and his brother ended up in Australia - possibly after jumping ship as I think he may have been in the Navy. I know he kept in touch with me great grandad for a while and always wrote in green ink. A long shot, I know, but if any descendants are out there, it would be nice to hear from you. Cheers Paul 'Lord of the Square' Driscoll

Very good site. I am a descendant of William John O'Driscoll, born 1833 in Lancashire. I am trying to trace some of his descendents and his parents. He married Mary Hindley and they had 11 children. If anyone has information I would be grateful to hear from you.

Great site. It wasn't that long ago that I typed my name into a search engine and was amazed by the information available on the net and by our ancesters colourful history. I will be making the journey to the clan reunion in Ireland in 2005 and I am looking forward to it. See you there!. Does anybody know what happened to the sleeping giant website?

My brother, Michael has a reasonable semblance of our Australian tree. Who wants to see it, and contribute?

Keep up the good work and stay in touch with your roots and heritage in West Cork Ireland. I would be pleased to have submissions of career profiles of persons named O Driscoll/ Driscoll/ Driskell etc for possible inclusion in a book about the O Driscoll family. The work is scheduled for publication in 2005. Places and features named Driscoll worldwide and profiles of artists, actors, journalists, writers, military , medical, religious persons etc anywhere who are named Driscoll will be very welcome. A paragraph or two on each person would be great. Longer family histories can be submitted for preservation in Cape Clear Island Museum Archive. Our postal address for long submissions in Cork city is: Cape Clear Museum Society, c/o An tAras, 13 Dyke Parade, Cork, Ireland. Other O'Driscolls worldwide please copy.

My Grandfather was Trevor Russell Driscoll, he served in WW11 as your list states. He was captured at Singapore, and spent the rest of the war a prisoner of the Japanese. I think this site is great, and plan to show my 12 yo son, so he can learn about his heritage. I am glad I found this site.
